Customized Internal Co-Active Coach

Many forward-thinking organizations have realized the cost savings and ROI of training a cadre of internal coaches. The Coaches Training Institute’s Internal Co-Active Coach® program is specifically designed to address the needs of internal organizational coaches focused on strengthening leadership skills and building coaching relationships to develop the skills of others within organizations.

The Coaches Training Institute’s ICF-accredited Co-Active Coach training program can be delivered to an internal group of between 16 and 26 internal coaches. The expectation is that this group of coaches will apply Co-Active Coaching skills within an organizational context and as such the training must be tightly focused on coaching managers, leaders and teams. This blended learning approach delivers a comprehensive coach training curriculum with follow-up modules to ensure the rapid and successful application of new skills to day-to-day activities.

Core Program Elements

  • Four 3-day classroom-based experiential workshops
  • Three learning labs conducted as teleclasses
  • Two one-on-one post program coaching supervision
  • Interactive coaching demonstrations
  • Extensive in-course supervised practice coaching
  • Participants receive the internal coaching tool kit containing assessments, templates and tools

Approach

The Internal Co-Active Coach program consists of an ICF-accredited coach training curriculum blended with telephone-based learning labs and one-on-one coaching supervisions. The ICC program incorporates training components that occur over an extended period and is composed of the following five elements:

A. Discovery and Design:

A dedicated CTI Learning Director will launch a formal discovery process to discuss our learning solution with relevant stakeholders. This important process ensures that the program’s content and context is grounded in Dana-Farber’s learning objectives, group dynamics and audience culture.

B. Assessment and Pre-work:

Participants will be presented with a series of individual and organizational self-assessment instruments. Assessments will support participants in identifying areas with the greatest opportunity for skill development, as well as highlight the organization’s “coaching climate”.

C. Four Experiential Workshops:

At the center of the training are four 3-day Internal Co-Active Coach workshops led by two senior CTI faculty members. The workshops are designed for a maximum of 26 participants. Through classroom presentations, observing, coaching demonstrations and engaging in a range of experiential exercises, participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of the Co-Active Coaching approach and its application in an organizational setting.

D. Learning Labs:

Following each set of workshops participants will take part in three faculty-led learning labs. The objective of these sessions is to apply the learning to realworld situations, practice coaching skills and share best practices.

E. Supervisions

The capstone to the ICC program is CTI's coaching supervision process. As part of the final "sign off" and to provide individual prescriptive feedback, each participant will take part in a one-on-one 60-minute coaching supervision facilitated by a CTI trained supervisor. During the supervision the student and supervisor will listen to an audio recording of the student's actual coaching. The Supervisor will provide real-time feedback on the session, explore areas for further development and provide guidance on the student's individual coaching style. Each supervision is scored on 20 criteria ranging from the use of specific Co-Active Coaching skills to the impact of the sessions on the client.
